Title slide day 9

Followers of Christ have curious tendencies, like trusting God when life doesn’t make sense. It’s hard to encourage any faith when senseless, heartless evils silently lurk in every nook and cranny of our lives. How can we find the strength to persist in faith?

One way is to get acquainted with God for ourselves. Those who are faithful in the midst of challenges have a familiarity with God. He is deeply personal to them; they cherish their relationship, even when struggling in their darkest valleys.

As we get to know God, we gain a better understanding that He takes no pleasure in the bad things that happen to us. This was never part of His original plan for us. God does not plot heartbreak or attacks on our spirits for the sake of exploiting His sovereignty.

Still, He does allow hardships to occur. God uses our roughest moments to have a deeper experience with us. As He reveals more of Himself to us, we stop questioning God’s every move and choose to believe without hesitation. In turn, we can then use our story, our faith-building situations to encourage others to keep trusting Him too.

God is good.

He’s great. Amazing. Gracious. Restorative. Redemptive. Forgiven. Generous. And much, much more. But He is not a magic genie. Faith in Him does not entitle us to live life on our own terms, in our own way.

Something unexplainable happens deep within our souls when we choose to embrace God’s peace. Just when we need Him most, He delivers hope, sometimes by the bucketful and sometimes in sliver-sized amounts. There is enough of His goodness to urge us onward, clinging to Him.

His strength is much greater than our doubts.
