Discouragement means a loss of confidence or enthusiasm; dispiritedness. An attempt to prevent something by showing disapproval by or creating difficulties or it’s a deterrent.
When you talk about discouragement, there are going to be two sides: those who cause it and those who are experiencing it.
The spirit of Sanballat’s goal is to discourage you. To get you to quit what God has called you to do. This spirit’s overarching mission is to thwart God’s work.
How to pray for your enemies: Nehemiah 4:4-5.
When the church is encouraged, the church will grow. When the leaders are excited about the work, the work will grow.
4 main causes for discouragement:
-Loss of strength
-Loss of vision
-Loss of confidence
-Loss of security
Things Nehemiah did when people got discouraged:
-Reorganize the people
-Directed the people’s attention to God.
-Balanced the work
-Have a rally point, to get together, to encourage each other.
Stop staring your problems in the eye. Put your eyes on Jesus. When we take our eyes of Jesus, we become discouraged.
We are not models. Jesus is the Supreme Model.
Don’t tell God how big your problems are. Tell your problems how big your God is.
If God’s people would take more time to help each other, to think on others, to pray for each other, we would not be suffering with discouragement.
God will give us wisdom to know what to do, when to do it and how to do it.
