storm passing through

What do the following people have in common?

Lazarus
The Widow of Zarephath
Jehoshaphat
Jochebed
Moses
Jesus
Lot
Paul
Jacob
Joseph
Job

They were unbreakable.

At some point during their lifetime, each one faced adversity.
There were pivotal moments in their experience that were potentially faith-shattering. Someway, somehow, they managed not to walk away from God. They chose to keep hanging on, even if it was by a thread.

The obstacles were overwhelming. Hunger, famine, drought. Parenting struggles, separation from children. Death threats and terminal illnesses. Violent storms and excruciating afflictions. Physical fights and betrayal. Death.

If we modernize the list to include some 2020 problems, we could add job insecurity, cyberbullying, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder. Financial despair and strained relationships. Low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Chronic illness. Pandemics.

One of these issues could be a threat to our faith. However, in this day and age, we find ourselves faced with compounding struggles; a combination of two or more problems. At the same time.

Life is hard! It’s during these moments when our faith is tested. We may find ourselves asking God why He would allow us to endure these experiences. Depending on the longevity and nature of our struggle, we may start questioning His motives, wondering if He’s sure about His plans.

How do we keep our faith through the storms of life? We’ll explore this question in the new sermon series beginning on April 18, called “Unbreakable”. Join us online on Saturdays mornings at 10:45 am, via YouTube and Facebook
