Have you noticed how creatives live intentionally? They’re watchful because they are constantly creating, through various forms of music, food, words, and art. With deep concentration, they search for the beauty that exists in the simple, complex, and in-between parts of life. This inspiration fuels their creativity.

Do you live watchfully?

Galatians 6:10 says “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” (NLT)

Are you watching for opportunities to do good or do you wait for them to pop up?

We don’t have to wait until life is perfect to do good. In fact, we shouldn’t wait until things are ideal because we don’t have that kind of time or guarantee on life. One lesson we’ve learned through the lingering presence of COVID-19 is that we can’t always wait for a “right time”.

If we’re not intentionally looking, we miss crucial moments. Including opportunities to do good.

Jesus was a habitual ‘do gooder’. He didn’t return to Heaven with a long list of people who were awaiting miracles. He had no portable booth set up, hoping that those in need might come His way. Instead, He helped people right where they were.

How can you start doing good?

First, make the decision to do so. With the talents and resources God has gifted you, choose to use them for His good.

Then, ask for help. Ask God to open your eyes so that you can live watchfully. Ask Him to give you the opportunities to do good, and for the courage to follow through in obedience. Sometimes the things He asks of us sound outlandish (to us), but that’s part of our faith-building experience.

Finally, do it. Do what God tells you, without adding to or subtracting from it. Doing good will vary in each situation. Aim to show the love of God rather than to be a superhero.

Where do you see opportunities to do good today?
