Working Inside and Out

As we discover more about the Holy Spirit’s work, we see that much of it happens internally. This work can happen quietly, even unnoticeably because the nature of the work involved is deeply personal.

Do you think of people with love rather than with negativity?
Are you praying for those who annoy you instead of complaining to God about them?
Do you pray more frequently and intensely, enjoying the time spent talking with God?
Have you found victory over sin?

Your response to these questions are indicators that the Holy Spirit is actively working within you. Soul changes can happen without flashes of light or pompous music. The confirmation we have of the change is God’s overwhelming peace as He reassures us that He is with us through it all.

The stories that are widely shared regarding the Holy Spirit’s work highlight big events. The Day of Pentecost, for example, when there were wind, flames, and the ability to fluently speak multiple foreign languages without study. As we continue to expect great displays of the Holy Spirit’s power, let’s not overlook His work within us right now.

The Holy Spirit is not like a genie hidden in a magic lamp, accessible by chance to grant us 3 wishes, or in this case, 3 answers to prayer. We don’t have to reserve the Holy Spirit’s work for what appears to be an ideal event or need.

We can start right now, from where we are. Why not invite the Holy Spirit to continue moving in your life. Get ready to follow through where He leads you.
