RRVJA Development Update

What We See

Precious. This was how Clarke, an actor, described his co-star after noticing how he was treated on set. In between filming, Clarke observed that his co-star had people “fawning” over him. His girlfriend caressed his hands while a health practitioner tended to his body. Perhaps his co-star’s increasing stardom had gone to his head. When Clarke said that his co-star was ‘precious’, it …

Because He Said So

Children have an innocent inquisitiveness, particularly when things don’t seem to make sense. If a parent or other authoritative figure requests something that includes a noticeable loophole, a child may ask ‘why?’. If the first answer is insufficient, they will continue asking ‘why?’, unearthing layer after layer as they get to the core of the matter. If adults are unprepared with sensible …

Divine Set Up

We can learn something new each time we read scripture. Like in Esther 2:22 (NLT): “But Mordecai heard about the plot and gave the information to Queen Esther. She then told the king about it and gave Mordecai credit for the report.” Though Mordecai overhears the assassination plot and informs Esther, it was Esther who reported it to the king. Approaching with haste, …

Chasing Dreams

There is a growing trend that is helping people bring their dreams to life. The concept is simple. In a journal, write down your specific goals in the present tense, as though they already exist. Then, you continue to write down the same things each day until they become reality. One of your journal entries might say “I am the owner …

Trust and Believe

Among the many reasons to read the Bible, sometimes it’s the basics that leave the most profound impacts. While we can learn about world history and traditions of eras past, we also learn about God. The intimate, spiritual connection that He desires to have with each of us is revealed page by page. Part of that connection includes encouragement. Scripture …

Space For You

{This post is a continuation of Olive’s special gift (part 1) for her Grandpa and the life lessons seen in their reactions to the gift.  In part 2, we explored assumptions and how they can affect us spiritually. Now, we’ll look at another life lesson.} Unboxing a new puzzle can be overwhelming. They don’t come preassembled, giving us a preview of the full picture before we begin. …

Defense Tactics

Playground fights are mismatched. Calling upon friends for backup, one party intends to outnumber and overpower their opponent. Though an issue originates with two people at the core, it soon balloons into a whole situation. Imagine receiving a message that three others had banded together to fight you. Scary, right? Oh, sorry—not just three others, but three other nations. Disaster would …

Next to Nothing

A handful of flour and a few drops of oil is barely enough for one person. With these minimal baking supplies, the Widow of Zarephath intended to feed her son and herself. This would be their last meal. Perhaps she reminisced of times when the tantalizing aromas of roasted seasoned meat would fill her kitchen. Those days were long gone …
